Energies are the underlying sources of power or energy. Energies are not only used to power mechanical machines but also used to generate electrical energy as well. Electrical energy is energy obtained from kinetic energy or electric potential energy, which is a combination of force and matter. When used loosely, electricity refers to the energy which is being converted from kinetic energy or from electrical potential energy into direct current energy or heat.
There are three different types of electricity generation: wind, solar and hydropower. Wind electricity is the most commonly used for residential and commercial purposes. It can be generated using turbines, which use windmill technology, and in some areas, can even be directly controlled. This is the most efficient form of electricity generation and has reduced environmental pollution compared to other energy sources.
Solar energy is the next most widely used source of electrical energy. In most locations, photovoltaic systems or solar panels are used to convert sunlight into electricity. The sun’s rays are used as the electrical potential energy in which to work because they are the highest quality source of free energy up to about 80%. Solar power plants use large collection boxes to harvest the sun’s energy and convert it into electricity.
Hydroelectricity is another form of electrical energy that is obtained by passing water through a turbine. The turbine converts the water into steam, which is then forced through an electrical generator to create electricity. The electricity is then routed to electric power plants, which use it to power large collection boxes.
There are two main types of renewable energy that use fuels such as natural gas and electricity from nuclear energy to generate electricity. These are the bio-mass production method which involves using biological processes to generate energy; and the fossil fuel-to-gas system which directly use fossil fuels. Bio-mass production methods tend to be more efficient with lower maintenance and upkeep, but also produce no pollutants. Using nuclear energy to generate electricity is the largest source of nonrenewable energy in the U.S. Most plants use uranium and/or plutonium for the reaction. Both of these sources have been banned in some countries because of their possible effects on the environment.
Renewable means that the source can never be depleted, and it is always available. It is a clean energy and does not add to the depletion of non-renewable resources. All forms of electrical energy use a non-polluting source such as sunlight, wind, and hydroelectricity. Many renewable energy sources are becoming cheaper and more readily available, while the cost of electrical energy continues to increase. In conclusion, using electrical energy will continue to be important in the future as long as it is needed to power our homes and businesses.
